Smartphone Or Basic Cell Phone?

This depends on what you’ll be using the phone for. A basic flip phone might do the trick if you need something just for calling and texting. If you want to check your email, use social media, and occasionally browse the web, then a basic phone with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard may be the way to go. But if you want to take amazing photos, use productivity apps, play games, surf the internet regularly, and stream content, you need a proper smartphone.

How Will You Use It?

Narrow your search even further by figuring out which features are most important to you. To do this, think about how you will use your phone regularly. If you take a lot of photos of yourself, your family and your friends, landscapes, etc you need a phone with an excellent camera.

If you enjoy using a range of apps for games, productivity, social media, photo editing, reading magazines, and more, you need a phone with a lot of storage space. Choose a phone with at least 64GB of internal storage with the option of expanding the memory with an external microSD card if necessary. Anything that supports up to 256GB should suffice, but there are phones that now offer support for cards up to 1TB.

Will It Fit Your Life?

Think about your typical day. If you spend a lot of time traveling or away from home, battery life will be important. Luckily, a lot of smartphones today come with batteries over 3500mAh that easily last over a day, even with heavy use. Also, consider the design. A small, compact-sized phone will be easy to toss into your pocket or purse, but may not be too great for productivity. If you’re outdoorsy, you should consider a phone with an IP rating that ensures that it’s dust and water-resistant. You could also buy rugged cases that protect your phone against drops. Then there are phones with basic capabilities that are built to survive the elements with a battery life that goes on for days.

Whenever you’re choosing your next phone, do your research and you’ll end up with a device you’ll enjoy using for years.
